ATLANTA, Ind.

The Reverend Harold L. Barnett, 88, of Atlanta, Indiana, formerly of Seymour, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at his home.

Born Aug. 16, 1926, on a farm near Vallonia, he was the son of Irvin and ArMinta Crockett Barnett, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Flavia Hoene on Feb. 24, 1956, and she also preceded him in death.

He graduated from Shields High School in 1944 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Kentucky Christian College in 1952. Harold also completed the requirements for a bachelor’s degree from Butler University.

The Rev. Barnett served various churches in southern Indiana, held revivals in Ohio and Kentucky and was a member of the faculty and taught at Louisville Bible College. He complete his 62 years of ministry by pastoring Atlanta Christian Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Kim Greathouse, and his son, Eric Barnett.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a granddaughter.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Atlanta Christian Church with the Rev. Joseph (Jody) Brown will be officiating.

He will be interred at the Riverview Cemetery in Seymour with a visitation from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. today.
