Tune up for annual bluegrass festival

Norman Station Conservation Club’s annual Spring Bluegrass Festival will be Friday and Saturday.

The festival will begin at 4 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m Friday, and then begin again at noon Saturday and continue through 9 p.m.

Norman Station will kick things off at 4 p.m Friday, followed by Brian Leaver and Friends at 6:45 p.m., James White and Deer Creek at 7:20 p.m. and Leatherwood Valley at 8:10 p.m.

Norman Station also will begin Saturday’s performances at noon. Other bands set to play that day include Hickory Wind, 12:50 p.m.; Mount Liberty Way, 1:40 p.m.; Sounds of Bluegrass, 2:30 p.m.; Backwoods Bluegrass, 3:20 p.m.; Liberty Hill, 4:10 p.m.; Sure Shot Turkey Dusters, 5:30 p.m.; Hamilton Creek, 6:40 p.m.; and Lost River Risin’, 7:30 p.m.

Campsites are available on the club’s 3½-acre lake. Call Carla Harris at 812-498-3498 for a reservation.

For early camping arrivals and others, a pitch-in supper will be conducted at the main shelter house at 6 p.m. today.

The club is located in northwestern Jackson County on County Road 450N, a tenth of a mile east of County Road 1250 (Norman Road).
