Waldo L. Wischmeier, 75, of Brownstown, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

He was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, where he held numerous offices.

Waldo was a grain and dairy farmer and was a charter member of Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Dept., serving as assistant chief for 25 years. He served on the Brownstown Central School Corp. board and was president of the board for four years. He also served on the Lutheran Central School board.

Born Oct. 9, 1939, in Jackson County, Waldo was the son of Walter and Ella Wessel Wischmeier, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Janet Stuckwisch at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, on June 28, 1959. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1990. On Aug. 29, 1992, he married Linda K. Klosterman Schafstall, who survives in Brownstown.

Other survivors include three sons, Douglas (Sue) Wischmeier of Vallonia, and Gregory (Lisa) Wischmeier and Max (Barbara) Wischmeier, both of Brownstown; two daughters, Beth (Stephen) Wischmeier of Seymour and Connie (Jeffrey) Stahl of Brownstown; grandchildren, Hilary (Mike) Strefling, Lindsey (Clint Sterling) Wischmeier, Blaine Wischmeier, Kyle Wischmeier, Peyton Wischmeier, Britney Wischmeier, Jack Wischmeier, Levi Stahl, Adam Stahl, Craig Wischmeier, Crystal (Bryce) Purcell and Lucas Wehmiller; two great-grandsons, Paxton Purcell and Phinnley Purcell; a great-granddaughter, Madison Purcell; a brother, Marvin (Norma) Wischmeier of Brownstown; a sister, Marilyn (Robert) Benter of Brownstown; mother-in-law, Melba Klosterman; and several nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Wischmeier, Noble Wischmeier and Alvin Wischmeier.

The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, with Pastor Martin Keller officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown and from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, Lutheran Central School and Trinity Lutheran High School.
