Hellen E. Schlehuser, 94, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Born March 27, 1921, in Columbus, she was the daughter of Frank and Sarah Tiemeyer Bolte, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 9, 1947, she married Fred F. Schlehuser, and he preceded her in death Jan. 3, 2000.
She retired in 1978 from Cummins Engine Co. where she had worked for more than 30 years and was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, which started in a tin shop in 1962 on the Schlehuser’s property.
She moved to Haines, Florida, in 1978 and lived there for 34 years. In 2012, she moved back to Columbus where she was a resident of Parkside Court.
Survivors include four nieces; 13 nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Bolte; and a sister, Norma Jean Burbrink.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Todd Riordan officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
Entombment will be in Garland Brook Mausoleum.
