Head of Youth Services Lola Snyder gave a report on the summer reading program and her experience in Leadership Jackson County when the Jackson County Public Library board of trustees met Monday at the Seymour Library.

Snyder’s Leadership Jackson County group project developed a pre-K book to highlight Jackson County that will be completed by Kids Fest 2016.

The board approved hiring summer interns Emily Engelking, Ian Hensen and Adam Wolka; changes to the library personnel policy; and signing a contract for a Library Service and Technology Act grant starting July 1 for a mobile technology lab.

The board budget committee plans to meet in July to discuss preliminary 2016 operating fund, library improvement reserve fund and rainy day fund budgets.

The board also approved accepting Food for Fines from Aug. 16 through 30. Library cardholders with collection agency accounts may participate after paying the $10 collection agency account fee. All materials must be returned before the fines can be waived.

The next board meeting is at 5 p.m. June 15 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St. Board meetings are open to the public and press.
