Clearspring Cemetery plans fundraiser

Several Jackson County residents are working to establish a Clearspring Cemetery Association.

The association would be responsible for mowing, maintenance, assignment of burial plots and financial decisions.

Organizers plan to conduct a hog roast and gospel sing Monday at Clearspring Baptist Church to raise funds to help with maintenance of the cemetery.

Pork sandwiches will be available for sale starting at 11 a.m., and the music from four gospel groups will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Groups scheduled to perform are Lowell and Patti Cooper of Monett, Ohio, The Sure Shot Turkey Dusters featuring Debbie Sweeny, Dennis Campbell and Jim Cooper from in and around the Clearspring area, Jerry Sawyers of Narrows, Virginia, and Delbert Wray of Salem.

Donations are currently being accepted from family and friends of the cemetery for mowing and maintenance. Donations can be sent to Leroy Crees, 116 S. Ewing St., Brownstown, IN 47220.
