Owls open tournament with win

RICHMOND

Seymour defeated host Richmond 8-4 in Friday’s opener of the Bob Haustetter Classic at McBride Stadium.

Mitchell Moore had a good night offensively and defensively, hitting a pair of singles and winning on the mound.

Jorge Vega finished with a single, a double and three RBIs, while Janzen Bloom had a double and a triple.

The Owls (14-9) will play Richmond again at 10 a.m. today and then New Haven at 12:30 p.m.

Tigers junior has another solid round

LACONIA

Crothersville junior Tyler Luedeman carded 40 for the third match in a row during Thursday’s quad meet at Chariot Run Golf Course.

His 4-over-par round put him in second place to Borden’s Kamden Hurst, who was medalist with 39.

Host South Central edged Borden 176-179 for the win, while West Washington shot 205, and Crothersville didn’t field a complete team.

Parker Adams was next for Crothersville with 56, and Conner Adams tied his personal-best round with 60.

Crothersville, South Central and Borden will be among the teams competing in today’s Southern Athletic Conference Tournament at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville.

Braves win at Western Hills twice

SALEM

Brownstown Central knows Western Hills Golf Course well after competing there twice this week.

On Tuesday, the Braves shot 153 in defeating West Washington (182) and Salem (207). Lance Hackman was medalist with 2-over 37, while Levi Sweeney and Seth Berry shot 38s, and Hunter Browning scored 40.

Then on Thursday, they defeated Eastern (Pekin) 159-194. Sweeney earned medalist with 1-over 36, Hackman carded 40, Browning shot 41, and Jackson Wagner finished with 42.
