Young actors participating in Jackson County Community Theatre children’s workshops from June 8 to 12 will have an expanded theater experience with the formation of The Jackson County Kids Theater.

After attending the workshops, young actors who wish to continue the stage experience will be cast in a role in the musical production of “Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Kids.”

The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. June 26 and 27 at Royal-Off-the-Square Theatre in Brownstown.

JCCT is currently accepting applications for the children’s workshop. Sessions for children ages 8 to 10 will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sessions for children ages 11 to 13 will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Rehearsals for the musical will be in the evenings the following two weeks.

Stacey Williams is the director of this year’s workshops.

Participation in the musical is not required, but workshop participants who wish to do so will be cast in the parts of Pongo, Perdita, their 15 Dalmatian puppies, the London dogs and Sergeant Tibbs.

Darin Richart will direct the stage production.

There is no charge for the workshops, sponsored by a grant from the Seymour chapter of Tri Kappa.
