Deborah R. Morgan, 66, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015, at home with her family at her bedside.

Born April 10, 1949, in Evansville, she was the daughter of Raymond Riley, who preceded her in death, and Martha Goodson Dollar, who survives. On June 10, 1967, in Fredonia, she married Ronald Morgan, who survives.

A member of the First Nazarene Church in North Vernon, Debbie was active in many capacities. She was a member of the Bible Study Club, served on the kitchen committee, taught Sunday school for 32 years and volunteered at the church camp.

She was retired from Seymour Community School Corp., where she served at Emerson Elementary School as a cook and kitchen manager. She had the pleasure of cooking with Emeril Lagasse during his visit there.

Debbie enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking in her spare time, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Besides her mother and her husband of 47 years, survivors include daughters, Shiela (Jason) Power and Rhonda (Michael) Mellencamp; grandchildren, Morgan (Levi) Ross, Robert (Kristen) Ross, Bethany (J.D.) Willey, Grayson Mellencamp, Ryan Mellencamp and Emma Mellencamp; four great-grandchildren, JennieAnn Willey, Lela Willey, Taylor Ross and Abby Ross; sisters, Reba Roach and Shirley (Kevin) Hooker; and two nieces, Kayla Hooker and Felicia Roach.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by several siblings.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour with pastors Randy James and Caleb Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.

A reception will be conducted immediately following the graveside service at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Those choosing to place a memorial in Debbie’s honor to First Nazarene Church of North Vernon or Immanuel Lutheran School can do so at the funeral home.
