Photography Forum at Southern Indiana Center for the Arts is sponsoring a program about basic camera settings and elements of composition that can help make a photograph more appealing to the viewer.

This free activity will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the arts center, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour, and is open to all interested residents. A basic class of this type was requested by several who attended the Photography Forum’s inaugural meeting in April.

Aaron Piper, staff photographer at The Tribune, will explain the basic mechanics of a camera and their use and the elements of photo composition. He will discuss the three building blocks of a photograph (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) and how they affect the picture, along with characteristics that contribute to a more striking image.

Preregistration is encouraged but not required.
