The Josh Teegarden Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be June 27 at Freetown Church of Christ, 7077 State Road 135 North.

An alumnus of Johnson University, Joshua “Josh” Teegarden gave his life to missions and was called into his eternal life July 27, 2004, according to a news release from Bill Teegarden, Teegarden’s father and a former minister at Freetown Church of Christ.

In memory of Josh Teegarden, organizers are combining two of the things he loved most: Running and missions. Proceeds from the race will be used for the scholarship fund at Johnson University in memory of Teegarden.

Awards will be presented to the top female and male racer, the youngest, the oldest, and the top female and male in four categories.

T-shirts will be provided for all who preregister for the event.

Donations can be made to the scholarship fund.
