Johnnie Windfield Starr, 70, of Bedford, passed away at 4:31 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at his residence.

Born Oct. 21, 1944, in Clark County, he was the son of John Curtis Starr and Sylvia Juanita Flynn Starr, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1973, he married Judith Ann Smith Day, who survives. In 1987, he married Wanda Lagay Grubb Starr, who passed away in 2007.

He graduated from Clearspring High School in 1965, served in the U.S. Army and loved to fish and be outdoors. He retired in 2007 from Stone City Iron in Bedford.

Survivors include daughter, Kim (Billy) Wilkerson of Clearspring; stepdaughter, Bobbi Haverly; two stepsons, Brent Slinkard and Brian Slinkard; two brothers, Mike (Becky) Starr of Medora of and Ronnie Starr of Borden; five sisters, Betty (Jim) Hamilton of Brownstown, Arlene (Dave) Forrest of Clearspring, Rae Ann (Denny) Sherrill of Kurtz, Brenda Starr of Brownstown and Janie (Elmer) Cheek of Kurtz; three grandchildren, Devin Wilkerson, Brayden Wilkerson and Brooklyn Wilkerson; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Wanda, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Starr; two half-brothers, Bob Starr and Curtis Starr; two sisters, Jenny Fortner and Mary Abel; and a half-sister, June Starr.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Hague Funeral Home in Medora with Pastor Greg Underwood officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Pinhook Cemetery in Lawrence County with full military graveside rites.
