The Tampico School reunion was April 24 at Pewter Hall in Brownstown.

Dr. Stephen Cunningham, master of ceremonies for the evening, welcomed everyone and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Alice Elliott Woodhull offered a prayer before dinner, which was served at 6 p.m.

Former cheerleaders led in the singing of the school song. All veterans in attendance were honored and thanked for their military service to our country.

A moment of silence was held in memory of deceased classmates, including June Beldon Jones, Jerald D. Prince, Darlene Rosemeyer, Edith Lavern Smith Parker, Ora Goecker Boxman and Richard Teipen.

Cunningham introduced his mother, Earline Beldon Cunningham, who graduated in 1938 and also was a teacher at Tampico. He also talked about other schools where she had taught, and the two talked about the working on the farm.

Jon Robison, son of Tampico High School teacher and basketball coach Robert L. “Bob” Robison, was introduced and spoke of his father’s years at Tampico. He said Tampico was his first teaching job, and he remained there until consolidation with Brownstown in the fall of 1963.

A silent auction was conducted with proceeds going to the reunion fund.

Bud vases filled with daisies and a yellow and purple bow were given as door prizes.

Special recognition was given to students in the classes of 1945, 1955 and 1965. No one was able to attend from the Class of 1945.

Five members of the Class of 1955 were in attendance — Joan McNay Hackman, Elberta Wessel Darlage, William Wessel, Robert Tatlock and Gerald Hackman.

The Class of 1965 was represented by Linda Reynolds Wheeler, who was accompanied by her daughter, Leigh Ann Wheeler Murphin. Both are Brownstown Central High School graduates.
