Vivian Jean Akers, 96, of Medora, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the home of her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue Dixon, in Seymour.

Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Carr Township, she was the daughter of William Hovey Huffman and Florence Goins Huffman.

Vivian was married to Homer Luther Dixon, who passed away in 1967. She then married Millard Akers, who passed away in 1993. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Medora, a homemaker and also worked at General Motors in Bedford for several years

She loved sewing, making quilts, feeding birds and animals, garden work and travel.

Survivors include two sons, Roger A. Dixon of Seymour and Thomas M. Dixon of Fremont, California; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Huffman, William Huffman and Hubert Huffman; and three sisters, Evelyn Wallace, Mary Belle Farris, Nellie Huffman.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hague Funeral Home, Medora, with the Pastor Jack Belk officiating.

Burial will be at Weddleville Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. and until time of service Monday.
