JACKSONVILLE, Fla.

Allean E. McElfresh, 79, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Middleburg, Florida.

Born Oct. 28, 1935, in Wolf County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Clarence and Pina Mae Cundiff Taulbee. On Dec. 5, 1958, she married Roger K. McElfresh who survives.

She graduated third in her class at Wilmington High School. In 1954, she was offered a full scholarship to Arizona State University in business. She truly was a world traveler who with her husband had traveled the world and had lived in many foreign countries. She was always a devoted wife, mother and grandmother affectionately known as “Meme.”

Other survivors include four children, Joni Kay Arnhart, Jonda Earlene (William) Armstrong, Judith Lee (Garrett) Byrd and Kenneth Roger (Andrea) McElfresh; brothers, Marvin (Anna) Taulbee and Richard Cundiff (a stepbrother); sister, Wilma Jean Blakeman; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvis Taulbee, Pryce Taulbee and Garland Taulbee; and five stepbrothers, Stanley Cundiff, Bob Cundiff, Floyd Cundiff, Boyd Cundiff and Bill Cundiff.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with her son Kenneth McElfresh officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until time of Sunday at the funeral home.
