Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour, will conduct classes geared toward teens in July.

Teen Scene at SICA will be one-time sessions exploring drawing, graffiti art, glass etching and acrylic painting on canvas, according to a news release.

Each class is limited to 12 students, but center members will receive a 20 percent discount. Preregistration and prepayment are required.

The class schedule is:

1 to 3:30 p.m. July 2: A drawing class in which students will get to pick their subject, and instructor Kay Fox will assist them with drawing, shading and highlighting. The cost is $15.

1 to 3:30 p.m. July 10: A graffiti art class in which instructor Kyle McIntosh will teach participants about different paint techniques, styles, history of graffiti and the importance of doing it legally. The finished project will be on a 16-by-20-inch canvas. The cost is $25.

1 to 3:30 p.m. July 16: Debra Richards will lead “Teen Blast,” a glass etching class. She will give basic instructions on how to cut a stencil of an artwork and help participants wrap it on an 8-inch plate. Richards will sandblast the design. The price is $25.

1 to 3:30 p.m. July 24: Darnell Dukes, executive director of the arts center, will guide students through a 16-by-20-inch acrylic painting. “Sunset at the Beach” features a sky full of bright colors and nighttime clouds reflecting off the water. The cost is $25.
