Airmen and soldiers with the Indiana National Guard’s disaster response team will conduct search and extraction training Wednesday at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center near Butlerville.

National Guard members, along with local, state and national emergency response teams, will participate in United Front 2015, a search and rescue operation exercise that will simulate earthquake damage.

The list of participating organizations besides the Indiana National Guard include Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Indiana Task Force 1, Bloomington Fire Department, Columbus Fire Department and Perry-Clear Creek Fire Department.

The goal of the exercise is to share search and extraction tactics, techniques and procedures among the different organizations, according to a news release from Sgt. 1st Class Jeff Lowry with the Indiana National Guard Department of Public Affairs.
