The Bicentennial Planning Committee of Jackson County will conduct a free wine and cheese tasting and volunteer information event from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The Wine Up and Sign Up event will be hosted at the Bicentennial Headquarters at 202 S. Main St. in Brownstown.

Potential volunteers will learn about how they can get involved in the bicentennial of Jackson County, Brownstown and Indiana in 2016. Sample local wine, fine cheese, sign up to volunteer, listen to live music, see a piece of art created from the bicentennial logo and learn how you or your organization can get involved this year and next.

A ball has already been planned for the county’s bicentennial celebration Jan. 1.
