LEESBURG, Fla.

Esther Johnson Wright, 98, of Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Jackson County, joined the love of her life, Maurice, on June 21, 2015.

Born Aug. 11, 1916, in Tampico, she was the daughter of Oren and Goldie Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the second child of their 11 children. On Nov. 24, 1938, she married Maurice Dexter Wright from Crothersville. He died Jan. 22, 1984.

She operated a beauty shop for many years in Seymour’s Vehslage Building. Later, adding a room to her house on Lee Boulevard for a beauty shop.

Survivors include two sons, Marlin (Mary) Wright of Poinciana, Florida, and Larry (Donna) Wright of Rosharon, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and three sisters, Irene Garriott, Ruth Hunt and Donna Bryant.

Besides her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Dale, Ray and Glen Johnson; and three sisters, Doris Mckain Benge, Edna Jones and Faye Ruddick.

She held a special place in her heart for her cousins, Francis and Harry Elliott from Tampico, and she said Harry has the mannerisms and looks of her grandfather, Jason Johnson.

Per her request, cremation was chosen.

Graveside services will be conducted in Crothersville Cemetery at a later date.
