Rex Lane Allen, 60, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, at his home.

Born March 3, 1955, in Greensburg, he was the son of Sonny William Allen, who preceded him in death, and Ruby Jean Meadows Allen Repp. On Nov. 1, 1975, at First Baptist Church in Seymour, he married Kathy Ann Snider, who survives.

Rex graduated from Seymour High School in 1973 and Ivy Tech Community College in 1997. After that, he worked for Cummins Engine Co. as a product engineer for 30 years, retiring in 2004. He was most recently employed at Celadon Logistics.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Seymour and sang with the New Life Singers. His hobbies included fishing and hunting.

Rex also was an accomplished bowler, holding a spot in the Seymour Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He also spent many hours coaching the middle school bowling team, and he had coached youth league softball and baseball since 1970.

Besides his mother and wife, survivors include a daughter, Katrina (Nick) Underwood; granddaughter, Phoebe Riley Underwood; sister, Peggy Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Michael Snider officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
