Gift of Grain program remains open to farmers

Area farmers storing grain from this past fall’s harvest can still participate in the Giving a Gift of Grain program through the Community Foundation of Jackson County.

Their donation can support the area’s agricultural community through the Jackson-Jennings Co-Op/Bob Myers Memorial Scholarship, C.B. Hess 4-H Memorial Scholarship, Jackson County Veterinary Scholarship and other endowed funds.

Donations to the Jackson County Community Endowment, for example, help finance grants through the annual fall grant cycle, classroom education grants and impact grants, said Dan Davis, president and chief executive officer of the foundation.

Donations of grain can be taken to participating grain elevators, Bundy Brothers in Medora, Jackson-Jennings Co-op at Brownstown and Cortland, Rose Acre Farms near Cortland and Tampico Grain near Retreat.
