Xandra “Sandy” Jayne Bedwell Day, 77, of Brownstown, died at 7 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, at her residence.

Born March 2, 1938, in Evansville, she was the daughter of Hollie G. Bedwell and Edna M. Trinkle Bedwell, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 11, 1960, in Evansville, she married Billy D. Day, who survives in Brownstown.

She graduated from Evansville Bosse High School in 1956 and attended Indiana State College in Terre Haute. She was a volunteer with Schneck Medical Center’s guild and a member of Tri Kappa sorority, First Presbyterian Church in Seymour and Jackson County Community Theatre.

She worked for The Courier-Journal newspaper in Evansville, Western and Southern Insurance Co. in Evansville and Agrico Chemical Co. in Seymour, and was retired from Indiana Gas in Seymour after 20 years. She also had worked for The Jackson County Banner in Brownstown.

Other survivors include a son, Anthony R. (Brenda) Day of Zionsville; a daughter, Holli R. (Craig) Darlage of Brownstown; three grandchildren, Kylie L. Day of Zionsville and Trent D. (Brittany) Darlage and W. Tyler Darlage, both of Brownstown; two great-grandchildren, Tyson R. Darlage and Madison A. Darlage, both of Brownstown; a sister-in-law, Bobbie June Barth of Boonville; a nephew, Kenneth Barth of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and two nieces, Karen Bedwell Herhahn of Colorado and Sherri Lee Barth of Boonville.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, R. Ralph Bedwell; a sister, Marquerite Bedwell; a sister-in-law, Elnora Bedwell; two nephews, Ronald R. Bedwell and Greg Barth; and a niece, Nancy Bedwell.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zabel Funeral Home in Brownstown, with the Rev. John Erickson and Pastor Jeff Geisler officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, the Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center or Schneck Medical Center hospice, all in Seymour.
