Award with Seymour ties given at Hanover

Ellen Mantz of San Pedro, California, was named the 18th recipient of the Dennis K. Kovener Memorial Award during a recent honors day convocation in the Fitzgibbon Recital Hall at Lynn Center for Fine Arts on the Hanover College campus.

The award, established by the college in honor of Kovener, is given each year to an outstanding student who exemplifies loyalty to Hanover and determination to succeed, according to a news release.

Kovener was a member of the faculty, serving as archivist and reference librarian in the Duggan Library, until his death Oct. 9, 1997.

Kovener’s parents, Jesse and Elsie Kovener of Seymour, attended the convocation.

Mantz is a graduating senior majoring in philosophy and theology.
