A Brownstown teen recently participated in the 45th annual Indiana Dairy Princess scholarship program, which is sponsored by the American Dairy Association of Indiana.

After a personal interview, Shelby Nierman gave a presentation called “Take a Walk in Our Boots” explaining dairy farmers’ passion and dedication to their cows and producing safe, nutritious milk.

Contestants in the program represent various dairy organizations, and Nierman represented the Indiana Brown Swiss Association.

Nierman, the daughter of Brian and Amy Nierman, plans to attend Purdue University this fall to major in developmental and family sciences.
