Betty M. Acton, 83, of Seymour, passed away Saturday Aug. 1, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born Aug. 25, 1931, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Oscar Marion Franklin and Emma Hutchings Stout, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Nov. 5, 1948, she married Charles W. Acton, who passed away Sept. 18, 2011.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Waymansville, and she retired in 1987 from Excello Shirt Factory after 26 years of service.

Betty enjoyed being with her family and watching her grandchildren’s events. She loved to work in her rose garden, read books, work on puzzle books and fish. She was an IU basketball fan.

Survivors include her children, Allen (Bev) Acton, Billy (Debbie) Acton, Beatrice (Jack) Hercamp, Carol (Jim) Johnson and Brian Acton (friend, Shelley Rubio); grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Acton, Matt (Amanda) Acton, Shawn Acton, Jaison Acton, Jennifer Acton, Melanie (Mark) Koch, Cody (Jennifer) Hercamp, Zachery Ping and Sara Johnson; nine great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; a great-great-grandson; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Eugene Acton; brother, Oscar Franklin; and stepbrother, Leon Marshall.

The funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Waymansville, 11750 W 930 S, with the Rev. John Beabout officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Voss Chapel and from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the church building fund at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Salvation Army or Lutheran Community Home.
