The Take Back Scott County group is sponsoring a fundraising event Aug. 29 at Beechwood Park in Scottsburg to benefit the Jayce Raye Stallings Community Youth Center in Austin.

At 8 a.m. that day will be a softball tournament. Cost is $150 per team. Participants will receive a T-shirt, and trophies will be awarded to the winning team.

A three-on-three basketball tournament will start at 10 a.m. Cost is $75 for a team of four. Participants will receive a T-shirt, and first- and second-place teams will receive trophies.

A motorcycle ride will leave at 10:30 a.m. Registration will go from 8 to 10 a.m. Cost is $25 for single and $30 for double.

There also will be a car show with registration from 10 a.m. to noon and judging at noon. Cost is $20 if you pre-register or $25 on the day of the event.

Then at 1 p.m., there will be a bean bag tournament. Cost is $20 for a team of two. Participants will receive a T-shirt, and trophies will be awarded to the winning team.

Vendor space is available for $10 per booth (must have own setup of tables, chairs, etc.), starting at 11 a.m. The event also will feature music, beginning at noon, and food from Daddy Rabbits and Tropical Sno.

Take Back Scott County was organized earlier this year in response to the HIV outbreak in southeastern Indiana. Its goal is to fight back against drug abuse by organizing youth-based events.

The youth center provides shelter, food and activities for up to 50 children each night.
