A fish fry to benefit the Joe Jackson Hotel restoration project will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Whistle Stop, 2379 S. Main St., Vallonia.

Fish dinners will be available for $6.50, and sandwiches are $4.50. Desserts are extra.

Proceeds will benefit the restoration of the hotel at 2420 S. Main St. The hotel, owned by the Fort Vallonia Days Association, was built in 1914 and is listed on the federal and state registers of historic places.

Restoration work to date includes a new roof, new facade, framing the interior and new wiring. The next step is installation of a septic system.

Fish fries are conducted on the second Saturday of each month during the warm-weather months.
