Two west-central Indiana men were flown to an Indianapolis hospital Tuesday afternoon after the box truck they were riding in rolled several times in the 5900 block of Crothersville-Tampico Pike in southern Jackson County.

John Ward, 63, of Lafayette, and Nathaniel Finch, 40, of Crawfords-ville, were hurt when the passenger-side wheels of the 2001 International box truck left the road, police said.

The incident was reported at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday.

Ward, who was driving the truck, then lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll and spill its load of boxed frozen food. He was thrown from the vehicle and was complaining of chest pain, while Finch complained of back pain. The two were flown to Methodist Hospital from the scene. Ward was listed in good condition on Wednesday afternoon. No condition report was available for Finch.

A Rumpke of Indiana truck was in the area at the time and helped clean up the frozen food.

The wreck was investigated by county Officer Dustin Steward and Sgt. Stan Darlage.
