A retired Columbus fire chief will talk about his new book of poems at 2 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.

Larry McCord, who also is a U.S. Navy veteran, will be joined by Sharon Schurman, who illustrated the book.

A Seymour resident, Schurman has been painting for 45 years and taught art classes at Spencer’s Craft and Hobbies. Her artwork has been featured on the Seymour Library windows throughout the year.

McCord’s book and talk include some comedy and some serious issues.

Those attending may purchase books and have them autographed.
