Willard M. Casey, 89, of Jonesville, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 19, 1926, in Washington County, he was the son of Seymour and Anna Ritchey Casey, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 29, 1947, in Austin, he married M. Evelyn Stewart, who survives.

Willard was an elder at Jonesville Christian Church where he loved every opportunity to serve the Lord. He worked at Cummins Engine Co. for more than 40 years as a machine repairman until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1947 during World War II on the LST713 in the Pacific including the landing at Iwo Jima. He was a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He had a passion for listening to and playing bluegrass music. He liked fishing and hunting especially coon hunting.

Other survivors include a daughter, Donna C. (Stephen) Lawyer; a son, Darryl R. (Jackie) Casey; a grandchild, two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Franklin Casey; and two sisters, Harriet Myers and Helen Spaulding.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Lenard, Amos, Melvin, Charles, and Irvin Casey; and a sister, Virginia Linn.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Doug Redford and the Rev. Stan Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Visitation will be from from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service.
