Mary Kay Whitcomb, 93, of Carmel, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015.

Born July 16, 1922, in Jonesville, she was the daughter of William and Fern Brocker, both of whom preceded her in death. On Valentine’s Day in 1943, she married Thomas Gardener Whitcomb of Seymour. He died in 2000.

Kay grew up in Seymour. After graduating high school, she moved to Indianapolis to attend secretarial school. Upon graduation, Kay and her husband were married. She then began her working career at Curtiss-Wright Corp. Kay was a member of Broad Ripple United Methodist Church.

In 1979, Kay, Tom and their son, Mark, moved to Carmel. After Tom’s retirement in 1981, the family took numerous annual vacations to Hawaii. Kay greatly enjoyed tending her flower gardens and loved all the beautiful flowers and plants she grew each year. Kay and Mark continued to reside in their Carmel residence of 36 years and transferred their church memberships to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Carmel in 2009.

Survivors include her children, Linda Kay (Dale) Button and Mark Whitcomb; grandsons, Jim and Brian Aldrich; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Colin Aldrich.

The funeral service will be at noon Saturday in the Conner Suite at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road in Indianapolis.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
