Verdie Campbell, 86, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at his home.

Born June 13, 1929, in Bonnyman, Kentucky, he was the son of Liza and Charlie Campbell, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1949, he married his wife of 65 years, Wilma Trammell.

He was employed as a foreman at Pantasote Inc. for 33 years until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and viewing nature, especially at the break of day, and he enjoyed teaching others how to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Eagles, Masonic Lodge and a founding member of Jennings Township Conservation Club.

Other survivors include children, Tom (Cheryl) Campbell of Sacramento, California, Tony (Joy) Campbell of Greenfield, and Lanny (Patsy) Campbell, Kelley (Pete) Elsner and Brian (Deanna) Campbell, all of Seymour; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters; a brother; and a stepmother.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters and a grandson.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. today at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour, with Bill Weaver officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Schneck Medical Center Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or New Beginnings Church.
