Help protect butterflies that spend their winters in Indiana by building them a butterfly hibernation box during a workshop planned for 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 30 at Paynetown State Recreation Area on Lake Monroe.

Participants will learn about the different winter survival strategies of butterflies and then assemble and decorate their own wooden hibernation box.

Registration is required by Aug. 24, and the workshop is limited to eight kits (two people can work together on the same kit). The cost is $25 per kit.

The state recreation area is at 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington.
