Oktoberfest prince and princess candidates sought

Beta Kappa chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha is sponsoring the 2015 Oktoberfest Prince and Princess Contest.

Any boy or girl who is a resident of Jackson County and between the ages of 6 and 10 before the Oktoberfest, which begins Oct. 1, is eligible to enter.

The winning prince and princess are determined by who raises the most money. All contestants who turn in money will receive prizes and be eligible to ride in the parade.

The crowned prince and princess each receive a bicycle provided by Beta Kappa and other prizes.

Funds raised by this project will benefit various Beta Kappa philanthropic causes, including Community Provisions Inc. of Jackson County, Reins to Recovery, Special Education Parent Advisory Council’s school fund, Pregnancy Care Center of Jackson County, Anchor House Family Assistance Center, Camp Riley, Easter Seals and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The deadline is Sept. 15.

Applications may be picked up at Old National Bank at Second and Walnut streets in Seymour or the mayor’s office or found at seymouroktoberfest.com. Applicants also may call Barb Neville at 812-522-9863 or Beth White at 812-445-3815 after 6 p.m.
