Brenda Jean Findley, 65, of Seymour, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born Jan. 27, 1950, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Emmett and Alice Dowling Sterling, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 29, 1971, she married the love of her life, Martin Edwin Findley, in Seymour, and he survives.

Brenda was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who was cherished by her family and friends. She was a member of The Crossing in Columbus, and she truly loved her church family. She had a servant’s heart. She loved helping people in whatever way she could. The greatest way she expressed her love for Jesus was ministering to others through her cooking. She was an extremely selfless and compassionate person. Her most precious commodity in life was her family especially her grandkids. She loved Jesus and her strongest heart’s desire was that everyone would come to know him.

Other survivors include her daughters, Mica Danae (Michael) Ellis, Shanna Lanae Spring (Ramiah) Cavanaugh; five grandchildren, Caitlyn, Conner, Abigail, Gracelyn and Luke; a brother, Charles (Carolyn) Sterling; and two sisters, Patty (Dick) Elmore, and Caroline (Eddie) Carr.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lora Janae Findley; a brother, Leroy Sterling; and two sisters, Velma Clark and Waneeta Shaw.

The funeral service will be at noon Monday at Seymour Harvest Church with the Rev. Hywel Thomas, the Rev. Aaron Arrowood and the Rev. Larry Robbins officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel and from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.

Memorials may be given to The Crossing Church in Columbus.
