Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour, will conduct an open house for art lessons from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 11.

The event will include hands-on activities and information on art classes by artist and teacher Kay Fox.

Information will be available about preschool classes for ages 3 to 5 on Thursday twice a month; after-school classes for local schools; home school for private classes and group classes (times can be during the day or evening); and classes for adults that can be private lessons or taken with their child or with a friend.

Classes include drawing, perspective and composition, pastel chalks, colored pencils, acrylic, oil, mixed mediums, collaging, painting on glass and gourd painting.

There will be art contests for students in kindergarten through 12th grade through the state of Indiana and national contests.
