Society of Women inducts new members

Delta Kappa Gamma International Society of Women Educators conducted initiation services Sept. 15, led by President Theresa Rouse, first vice president Sandy Howard, second vice president Lois Geuder and membership chairwoman Connie Gerth.

Those initiated were Jeanie Schneider, Becki Thompson, Sue Spicer, Karen Dobrinski, Nancy Franke, Chata Toppe, Nancy Cherry, Lora Hackman, Mindy Clay, Amy Hartley, Sheena Isaacs, Becky Baker and Jenni Hunnicutt.

Before the initiation at the Masonic Lodge in Seymour, dinner was served by the Rainbow girls with the invocation given by Janice Brock.

The tables were decorated with small pots of mums, fall leaves, children’s picture books and holders of pencils, scissors and rulers.

Rouse conducted a business meeting with reports by secretary Sue Fechter, treasurer Geuder, corresponding secretary Gerth and budget reporter Brock.

Twenty-three members had perfect attendance for the 2014-15 year, and with a draw, Sandra Melloncamp received a paid membership for the 2015-16 year.

Certificates of membership were presented to Susan Harrison for 40 years, Cheryl Fenton for 25 years and Jane Coryell for 65 years.

“Glad You Came” gifts were won by Hartley, Donna Sullivan and Laura Stahl. Members of the committee for the meeting were chairwoman Melloncamp, Terrye Davidson, Kathy Haper, Cheryl Hodapp, Barb Schuley, Luella Mackey and Cecily Noelker.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Central Christian Church in Seymour with Mary Jane Lasater as chairwoman. Mark Adams of Voss Funeral Service will be the speaker, and members may bring Christmas gifts for mental health patients.
