Where do you work out, and what do you like about that place?

What do you eat or avoid eating to be healthy?

Barb: “I try to be healthy and watch what I eat. You are only given one body, so you need to take care of it. The more healthy foods that you put into your body, the healthier you will feel.”

What are your fitness goals?

Barb: “To stay active by exercising, which will give me a healthy lifestyle.”

What are some fitness goals that you have achieved that you’re proud of?

Barb: “When I first started running, I never would have believed that I could finish a 5K, let alone eight half-marathons. My son, Jarred, has supported me with my training for the 5Ks and half-marathons. Sometimes, I could not have done them without his support.”

Jarred: “Running 5Ks and half-marathons. I have always been a runner in middle and high school and on through college. I never would have thought that I would have completed as many 5Ks and half-marathons as I have.”

Are you currently training for any type of event, such as a marathon, triathlon, etc.? If so, what does your training or routine involve?

Barb: “I recently ran the Mill Race Half-Marathon and will keep training for the Indianapolis Monumental Half-Marathon. The future for me will be finishing several more 5K races and half-marathons. When it gets closer to the half-marathon runs, I will increase my mileage.”

Jarred: “I ran the Mill Race Half-Marathon and will keep training for upcoming 5Ks and half-marathons. I run between four and six miles a day and increase mileage when it gets closer to running half-marathons.”

How does exercising make you feel?

Barb: “I always feel better after I exercise.”

Jarred: “I always feel better after I exercise.”

What is your advice to encourage others to exercise?

Barb: “Everyone says that they don’t have time to exercise. Make time for yourself and exercise. You will feel better once you finish.”

Jarred: “Make it a habit to exercise daily. Anyone can make time out of their day for an hour to exercise.”
