What is your workout schedule?
Barb: “Running five to six days a week.”
Jarred: “Running five days a week and biking or hiking one day a week.”
What is your favorite workout to do and why?

Barb: “I love the outdoors, so running outside for me is the best. I will use the treadmill, bike and elliptical at the gym.”
Jarred: “I love to run outside. I will use the treadmill, bike and elliptical and lift weights at Fitness 1440 gym.”
Where do you work out, and what do you like about that place?
Barb: “When the weather is nice, you will find me outside running. I have a love/hate relationship with the treadmill, so I will use the treadmill on cold and rainy days. I work out at Fitness 1440 and/or the hospital gym.”
Jarred: “When the weather is nice, you will find me outside running. I will use the treadmill on cold and rainy days. On those days, you will find me at Fitness 1440.”
What do you eat or avoid eating to be healthy?
Barb: “I try to be healthy and watch what I eat. You are only given one body, so you need to take care of it. The more healthy foods that you put into your body, the healthier you will feel.”
Jarred: “I watch what I eat and eat as healthy as I can.”
What are your fitness goals?
Barb: “To stay active by exercising, which will give me a healthy lifestyle.”
Jarred: “To stay active by either going to the gym or running outside.”
What are some fitness goals that you have achieved that you’re proud of?
Barb: “When I first started running, I never would have believed that I could finish a 5K, let alone eight half-marathons. My son, Jarred, has supported me with my training for the 5Ks and half-marathons. Sometimes, I could not have done them without his support.”
Jarred: “Running 5Ks and half-marathons. I have always been a runner in middle and high school and on through college. I never would have thought that I would have completed as many 5Ks and half-marathons as I have.”
Are you currently training for any type of event, such as a marathon, triathlon, etc.? If so, what does your training or routine involve?
Barb: “I recently ran the Mill Race Half-Marathon and will keep training for the Indianapolis Monumental Half-Marathon. The future for me will be finishing several more 5K races and half-marathons. When it gets closer to the half-marathon runs, I will increase my mileage.”
Jarred: “I ran the Mill Race Half-Marathon and will keep training for upcoming 5Ks and half-marathons. I run between four and six miles a day and increase mileage when it gets closer to running half-marathons.”
How does exercising make you feel?
Barb: “I always feel better after I exercise.”
Jarred: “I always feel better after I exercise.”
What is your advice to encourage others to exercise?
Barb: “Everyone says that they don’t have time to exercise. Make time for yourself and exercise. You will feel better once you finish.”
Jarred: “Make it a habit to exercise daily. Anyone can make time out of their day for an hour to exercise.”
