Southern Indiana Compassionate Friends will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vienna Baptist Church, 11 W. Leota Road, Scottsburg.

The support group is committed to parents and grandparents who have lost a child or grandchild so they do not have to walk alone through their loss, according to a news release from Carol Chandler of Seymour.

This month, there will be a balloon release with messages in memory of our children and grandchildren.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring a dessert or snack to share.

Today, with more than 600 chapters in the United States and a presence in at least 30 countries, the organization has emerged as the world’s largest self-help bereavement organization, never losing sight of its mission of compassionate support, Chandler said.
