Highway reopening set for late this month

Indiana Department of Transportation officials anticipate reopening State Road 250 in mid- to late-October at its bridge over the east arm of Grassy Creek west of Uniontown in Washington Township.

Meanwhile, motorists will continue to detour around the Jackson County closure via State Road 11, U.S. 50 and either U.S. 31 or Interstate 65, according to a news release from INDOT spokesman Harry Maginity.

This $773,492 Seymour District bridge project located 0.92 miles west of U.S. 31 has involved the construction of a new three-span reinforced concrete slab structure measuring 65½ feet in length and 31 feet side-to-side. Surface pavement at either end of the structure remains to be placed, pushing back the scheduled reopening date. Slopes and ditches also must be graded.

Dave O’Mara is the state’s contractor.
