Organizers of the Houston Fall Festival, set for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 10, are requesting donations of homemade baked goods for the bake sale.
The festival committee also will accept donations of other items, including money, committee member Thelma Crider said.
The festival, first conducted in 1994, focuses on raising money to preserve the community’s former schoolhouse. The school last saw students in 1967, and a film company wanted to purchase the school and burn it as part of a movie in the early 1990s.
Community members, however, decided to conduct the festival to raise funds to restore the school, which sits on property owned by Houston Christian Church.
