Area seniors winning first place at the 11th annual CreativeArts Contest and Exhibition were announced at the “Meet the Artists” reception Thursday at FairOaks Mall in Columbus.

The People’s Choice Award winners as voted by the viewers were Mary K. Rose of Crothersville in the heritage arts for quilting category; Joyce Harmon of Crothersville in the visual arts for mixed media category; and Glenna Rigsby of Seymour in the literary arts for poetry category.

The exhibits will be on display at the CreativeArts area at the mall until Oct 30. Participants were men and women, age 50 and older, who are amateur (nonprofessional) artists and writers from Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson and Jennings counties.

The event was organized by Thrive Alliance, Area 11 Agency on Aging, Columbus.
