Free HIV testing Thursday in Seymour

Positive Link is extending its reach to help those in the five southeastern Indiana counties affected by the recent increase in cases of HIV by offering free testing from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Walgreens store at 319 E. Tipton St. in Seymour.

The free testing also will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. that day at the Walgreens store at 9 N. State St. in North Vernon.

The Jackson County Health Department also is offering free HIV testing and Hepatitis C testing on Mondays at Schneck Medical Center, 411 W. Tipton St., Seymour. Appointments are not required, but to make one, call 812-522-6474. Testing normally requires 30 minutes.

Positive Link, which serves 23 Indiana counties, is a program of Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital Community Health that offers free HIV prevention and testing services and direct services for those infected with HIV. In 2014, it was recognized with a Hospital Charitable Services Award and was one of 10 programs awarded this recognition nationwide.
