Officers with Seymour Police Department participated in Operation Pullover from Sept. 17 to 27.

Eight officers worked 53.5 hours during the project, which focused on seat belt usage enforcement. They initiated 226 traffic stops and issued 121 citations and 112 warning citations. Officers also arrested eight people for various offenses, including one for possession of methamphetamine.

Operation Pullover is a traffic safety initiative that has officers work overtime that is paid by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

Seymour Police Department has applied for another Operation Pullover grant for fiscal year 2016. If the grant is awarded, the department will continue to pay officers overtime to work seat belt and impaired and dangerous driving enforcement.
