Seymour native named setter of week

Indiana University Southeast junior Hannah Barker has been named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Setter of the Week.

Barker, a Seymour native and 2013 Trinity Lutheran High School graduate, averaged 10.3 assists in five matches last week as the Grenadiers went 4-1. They opened the week by losing to Indiana University Kokomo but then won four straight over Brescia, Rio Grande, Appalachian Bible College and West Virginia Tech.

Barker had a career-high 40 assists against Rio Grande. She ranks No. 47 in the NAIA and No. 2 in the KIAC with 9.2 assists per game. She is tied for the conference lead in total assists with Indiana University East’s Abbey Ketchum at 525.

The Grenadiers are 11-7, including 5-2 in the KIAC.
