Virginia “Ida” Johnson Donahue, 79, of Crothersville passed away at 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at her home.

Born June 29, 1936, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Granville and Bessie Caudill Johnson.

On Sep. 2, 1952, in Uniontown, she married John Robert Donahue, who survives in Crothersville.

Virginia worked at the former U.S. Shoe Corp. in Crothersville. She was a member of the Crothersville Church of the Nazarene and a past member of Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

Other survivors include one daughter, Melinda K. Donahue Patterson of Crothersville; two granddaughters, Amanda N. (Buddy G.) Speer Williams of Crothersville and Rebecca R. (James) Speer Persinger of Columbus; six great-grandchildren; three siblings, Virgil (Lillie) Johnson of Austin, the Rev. Alice Bline of Bicknell and Maxine (Eddie) Banks of Vincennes.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Vanessa Leigh Donahue and Debra Sue Donahue; and two siblings, David Johnson and the Rev. Cora Ruth Clem.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
