SEYMOUR

James L. Miller, 76, of Seymour, formerly of Columbus, died at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at Seymour Crossing.

Born April 6, 1939, in Horse Cave, Kentucky, he was the son of John R. and Virgie C. Hutcherson Miller. He married Dorothy M. Fosbrink Pettay on March 11, 1992.

James retired from Cummins Engine Company after 32 years of service. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church and enjoyed antique cars and spending time his dog, Skipper.

Survivors include his mother, Virgie Edwards of Columbus; wife, Dorothy of Seymour; children, Tammy (Tracey) Meek of Columbus and James L. Miller Jr. of Seymour; stepchildren, John Pettay of Seymour, Ruth (Dale) Southerland of Crothersville and Jennifer Pettay of Seymour; a brother, Thomas E. Miller of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Kevin Miller.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington Street, Columbus with Dr. William E. Bailey officiating. Family and friends may call from noon until time of service Friday.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery in Horse Cave, Kentucky, with the Rev. Kevin Denton officiating.
