William Dale Walters, 86, of North Vernon died at 3:01 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at Jennings Health Care Center.

Born June 22, 1929, in Jennings County, he was the son of Minor and Vida Cooper Walters, both of whom preceded in death.

He was a truck driver for Dave O’Mara Contractor Inc. in North Vernon and previously work as a brakeman for the railroad. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946-49 and the U.S. Army from 1954-56. He was a member of Am Vet’s and Matt Hester Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2021, both in North Vernon. He enjoyed racing.

Survivors include his three sons, Mike “Harpo” (Barbara) Walters of Brownstown, and David “Crockett” (Rose) Walters and Mark (Sherrie) Walters, all of North Vernon; two daughters, Terry Sue Miller and Joanna D. Campbell, both of North Vernon; a brother, Walter Wilber of Tennessee; a sister, Ruth Bowling of Hayden; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his ex-wife, Beth Stubblefield, and a brother, Roy Wilber.

The funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service.
