Hornets fall in three

SALEM

The Medora volleyball team wasn’t able to pick up a set in a 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 loss to Salem on Thursday.

Kailen Flynn led the Hornets attack making 29 of 32 hits with six kills.

The Hornets’ Alli Carney had six blocks and went 19 of 24 with three kills on offense.

Avery Carney made all 68 of her set attempts with 15 digs.

The Hornets (7-16) will play Class A sectional host Orleans in the tournament’s semifinals Oct. 24.

FOOTBALL

Owls freshmen fall to New Albany

The Seymour freshman football team lost to New Albany 28-22 on Monday night at Bulleit Stadium.

Nathan O’Mara scored the Seymour touchdowns on runs of 15, 24 and 48 yards, and Ezra Barr scored two 2-point conversions.

The freshmen finished the season with a record of 2-3.

Seymour’s junior varsity football game at New Albany on Monday night was canceled because of the weather.
