Brownstown Central volleyball team takes one of three at Carmel

CARMEL

The Brownstown Central volleyball team defeated Westfield 25-18, 25-17 on Saturday at the Carmel Tournament, but lost matches with Carmel 25-21, 25-10 and Noblesville 30-28, 25-17.

On the attack against Westfield, Danielle Meyer made 16 hits on 17 attempts with six kills while Morgan Wehmiller was 14 of 18 with four kills.

Abby Brown led the Braves from the back line making all eight serves with an ace and Wehmiller made all seven of her serves with an ace.

Wehmiller led the attack against Carmel and was 16 of 17 with six kills, and she also led the team in serving in that contest, making 11 of 12 attempts with three aces.

Against Noblesville, the Braves’ top hitter was Meyer who was 14 of 14 with six kills, and the leading server was Brooklyn Snodgrass who made all 10 attempts.

The Braves (17-16) will play Providence on Thursday in the Class 3A Charlestown Sectional.

LOOGOOTEE

Trinity Lutheran traveled to Loogootee and came away with a 25-15, 25-23, 25-23 win.

Haylee Barker led the attack and made 20 of 21 hitting attempts with 10 kills, and she also made all 19 of her serving attempts with one ace.

The Cougars’ top server was Hayley Carter who made 20 of 20 attempts and finished with an ace.

The Cougars are 18-9 and scheduled to play West Washington at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Orleans Sectional.
